i'm using the community editon for Joomla 1.5... unfortunately stuck on this cause of virtuemart.

However, i want to do this:
Redirect this url: /category/30-childcategory.html (generated by vm, "sef'ed" by a thrid party plugin
to a joomla menu item /category/item.html (regular Joomla acticle, linked with menu)

I've already tried htaccess, but it did not work.

So i found your component. However, this does not work either. I've tried other redirects (item -> item) which work perfectly. So, in general, it does work

Does anyone know a solution or is this possible at all?
