Redirect on-click was created by sil_ky
Hi selfget-Team,

this is my very first posting. I am looking for an extension and I am hoping that ReDJ will be the right one.

I have a website, one in german and one in english. They both look the same and serve the same content (except for the different language), but they are independent Joomla systems with independent domain/urls.

What I want to do:

The user shall be able to switch from the german url to the english url (and vice versa) by clicking on a flag-icon that is placed somewhere in the top of the website.

I need the following:

In the backend I need to manually assign the urls from one website to the other website.

Example:
www.example.de <=> www.example.net
www.example.de/example.html <=> www.example.net/example.html
... and so on

The extension detects the active url and, when the user clicks on the flag, it redirects to the unique url I manually specified previously in the backend. The flag is inside a custom module in the top of the website.

I don't need or want a translation extension, because the content is already translated.

Can ReDJ do that?

Thanks and best regards

Hi sil_ky,
if I understand it well, what you need is a simple button with a reload action to a different link.

So you don't need ReDJ for this (and ReDJ can't do this, BTW).

Kind regards,
Luigi

Hi Luigi,

thanks for your quick answer :)

I don't need just one button. As I have about 700 articles, I would need 700 buttons. I was hoping that there would be an easier way. Could ReDJ be customized? Or do you know any other extension that would do this? I am really helpless.

Thanks for your help

In this case what you need is a plugin that generates those buttons dinamically. ReDJ can't be used because it works in a very different way. It intercepts requests and can redirect to a different path. In your case you need a redirect triggered by a button, where the button action already knows the destination.

I am not sure if such a plugin already exists or not, but it would be not so difficult to create a brand new from scratch.

Kind regards,
Luigi
