Syntax is confusing me

Syntax is confusing me was created by trogladyte
I want to redirect www.digitalguarddog.com/mm5/* to www.digitalguarddog.com. I added a rule stating ^/mm5/*.*, but it gives me a 403 error. What have I goofed up please?

but it seems to work as expected. Can you check again? You should clean browser cache...

So it is. I put in www.digitalguarddawg.com/mm5 to check it and that did (and still does) give a 403 error. However, adding something after the trailing "/" works. Thanks.

The error you get calling www.digitalguarddawg.com/mm5/ can be fixed adding this at the end of .htaccess file:
ErrorDocument 404 /
