I tried
www.bapcs.co.uk/blog/apple-fusion-drive-the-must-have-rip-off-1?tmpl=component&type=raw

and put the url as

/blog/apple-fusion-drive-the-must-have-rip-off-1\?tmpl=component&type=raw

and put a cononical in there as well as some meta data to test

It registers the hits now, but still doesn't register a canonical or the meta data.

Uhmm,
the problem here is related to the parameters tmpl=component (no template) and type=raw (a raw view). If you have only this page or a few pages like this, and assuming you need this page but you do not want this to be indexed, then you could just block spiders using robots.txt. What do you think?
