Will ReDJ redirect stand-alone html pages

Hello

I have some stand alone pages left over from a non-joomla site, sitting in the root of my webserver.

For example, they are named something like the below example:

piano.html

That page is physically on the server. It's not a Joomla page.

So via the browser that page would look like

www.website.com/piano.html

I want that to be directed to:

www.website.com/player-piano

Can this be done within ReDJ -- or do I need to do that via the usual 301 redirect command in a .htacess file.

Thanks!

Hi,
to manage these kind of redirection you must first rename or move the original file. This is because for static existing files the web server just returns them, without any other action. So, there's no way for Joomla (and ReDJ) to manage them.

When the file doesn't exist, you can tell to apache to pass any 404 error to Joomla with ErrorDocument, and then create redirection rules with ReDJ.

Kind regards,
Luigi
